With the grand jury’s decision on whether or not to indict Officer Darren Wilson expected to be announced this week, demonstrators have ramped up protest tactics. On Sunday, 100 days after the shooting of Michael Brown, protestors chanting “Arrest Darren Wilson!” staged a “die in” at Delmar Loop to show the world the “reality” they’ve experienced.
In the demonstration, protestors first simulated being gunned down. Others then traced their “dead” bodies with chalk.
“This is the reality of our last hundred days,” one demonstrator said. “We saw a dead body on the ground, and afterward, constant police brutality. That’s our reality.”
“When you make people uncomfortable, things happen,” said protestor Rocket Ali. “That’s the whole point of this action is we want to bring it to places where it’s going to make people of privilege uncomfortable.”
With key evidence aligning with Officer Wilson's account of the incident, most anticipate that despite the pressure from protestors and activists the grand jury will not indict Wilson.
Meanwhile, according to Al Sharpton, President Obama recently met with activists leaders to encourage them to stay the course in pursuing “what it was that he knew we were advocating” and urge them to do all they can to “keep the peace.”
