Prospect Who Claimed God Told Him To Skip Combine Is Missing February 27, 2014 7:54 AM
SEATTLE (CBS Seattle) — A football prospect who skipped the NFL Scouting Combine because God told him to has not been seen since the weekend.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, Adam Muema, a 21-year-old running back from San Diego State University, has not been seen or heard from since leaving Indianapolis Sunday.
“I have no idea where is,” a friend of Muema told the Union-Tribune. “(San Diego State coaches) have been trying to track him down, too. Every time they do, his phone is off. It’s a frustrating deal.”
Over the weekend, Muema explained he skipped the combine because God told him if he did, he would finally get his dream of playing for the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
“Can’t go wrong with God,” Muema told the Union-Times.
Muema also indicated he would be lying low for some time.
“(God told me) to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace,” the Aztec running back said, adding that he speaks to God through numbers.
On Monday, Muema responded to critics who thought he was crazy for skipping the combine.
“Yes, you guys are right I am crazy, crazy in love with Jesus it is the sweetest name I know,” Muema tweeted.

Muema’s former high school football coach called the player’s whereabouts a mystery.
“It’s a big mystery,” Charter Oak High School football coach Lou Farrar told the Union-Times. “At this point, we just hope he’s safe. As long as he’s safe, that’s all that really matters.”
Farrar said Muema’s faith surprised him.
“We’ve had some kids on our team who were really outwardly religious — say a lot of prayers, get interviewed by the paper, thank Jesus,” Farrar said. “Nothing. He was nothing even like that here. He was a very quiet kid on campus. A real happy-go-lucky, big smiles all over the place. Just a great kid. Great smile. He was one of the leaders on our team. He led by example.”
One unnamed teammate said he was surprised Muema would skip the combine.
“He talked about how close he was with God, but was a little bit of a surprise,” the former teammate told the Union-Times. “I wish him nothing but the best. He’s a great kid.”
Muema rushed for 1,244 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Aztecs last season and is the fourth all-time leading rusher in the school’s history.
